Penicuik YMCA-YWCA, a member of the Penicuik Community Sport Hub, open their new sports courts to the local community.
On August 2nd at 11am, Penicuik YMCA-YWCA proudly opened the redeveloped sports courts in Queensway, Penicuik. Among those attending were renowned former international tennis umpire, John Frame; the Lord Lieutenant of Midlothian Sir Robert Clerk and Lady Clerk; Scotland women’s rugby international Sarah Law and her sister Rachel who is a sportscotland Sports Panel Ambassador; Keith Wright, Football Development Officer with Midlothian Council and former Hibernian and Scotland footballer; and John McCrossan, Youth Development Convener, Midlothian Hockey Development Group.
The opening of the Sports Courts to which all were welcome has been much anticipated by Penicuik Y, having invested lots of time and energy since 2009 securing funding and organising the renovation which has been supported by the hub.
Following years of decay, the newly refurbished sports courts are a valuable new asset for the community and will be available for hire by individuals and groups, principally for hockey, football and tennis.
