Ageing Well Logo

Established in 1999 in partnership with NHS Lothian Ageing Well aims to provide a range of opportunities to encourage the over 50s in Midlothian to increase their physical activity levels. Being more active is good for your health and Ageing Well offers a wide variety of activities designed to suit all tastes.

The project offers a wide range of weekly activities throughout Midlothian called the Be-active Programme which includes the following:

Can't help singing?  Why not join  our weekly singing group! Love dancing? Our fun series of weekly dance classes are guaranteed to put a spring in your step and keep you fit and healthy. Sign up for one of our weekly health walks in Dalkeith, Penicuik, Bonnyrigg, Loanhead, Gorebridge and Rosewell. Or how about  a short walk every Monday followed by a spot of gardening with Daisy, the Garden Coordinator of the  Bonnyrigg Community Hospital Gardens.

For those who enjoy fitness classes we offer aerobics, Tai Chi/Chi Gong, yoga and aqua aerobics. pilates and seated exercise classes at various venues throughout Midlothian. Want something a bit more energetic and competative then why not try New Age Kurling, Table Tennis or Walking Football!

MOT Health Checks are offered to Ageing Well  participants in Midlothian. They are available every 6 months throughout the year. Checks include grip strength, lung function, blood pressure and body fat % as well as optical checks and physiotherapy advice.

Information on classes events and news can be accessed in our 1/4ly newsletter.

Ageing Well also provides a volunteering opportunity for the over 50's. You can help make a difference to your peers by inspiring them to adopt a more active and healthy lifestyle while enhancing your skills and knowledge as well as having fun ! Lead walks, run activity sessions or help with various events, there are lots of ways to get involved.
