Positive Start For Midlothian Girls

Midlothian Girls u15 Rugby

Wednesday 2nd December saw the Midlothian u15 Girls  team take the field for the first time this season against a strong Lismore RFC.

With the game played over 3 20minutes, under the lights at Dalkeith RFC the visitors took a big lead in the first third leaving the hosts wondering what they had to do just to get the ball.

The 2nd third saw a change in the game with Midlothian finding their stride. Keeping the visitors off the ball they scored some great try’s through straight running and great ball retention.

The hosts started the final third strong bringing the game back level before 2 last minute try’s from the visitors stole the game.

This was a great start for the girls with a large number of them having never played competitive rugby before.

Rugby Development officer, James Sloggie added: We have a lot to work on but a lot of positives came through this evening. Once we got into the game we worked well and kept the ball alive. This is one of those occasions the result doesn’t show just how much the players put in, especially in defence.

It is hoped the Midlothian girls will be able to play more regular fixtures as the season continues.

Thank you to Lismore RFC for making the short trip through to play us and to Dalkeith RFC for hosting the game.
