We had over 400 primary pupils and 120 secondary pupils competing in our summer athletics events held at Dalkeith Campus Athletics Track.

Secondary Athletics Championships

All six high schools attended our annual championships which as usual was fiercely competitive between both schools and individuals.  The event involves 75 and 80m hurdles, 100m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 800m and 1500m and also a 4x100 relay.  Pupils also take part in field events such as discus, shot, long jump, high jump and javelin.  The event runs with the fantastic support of Lasswade Athletics Club and also senior pupils from the high schools.

Congratulations to Dalkeith High School who won the event with Penicuik and St Davids coming joint 2nd in a morning where sporting behaviour was always evident.

Primary Athletics Championships

There were 2 separate events for the primary Championships, with larger schools competing in the morning and smaller schools in the afternoon event.

There were 17 schools taking part across the 2 events, with approx 400 primary pupils participating.

Pupils could take part in a range of individual track and field events, the team 4 x 100m relays, and a fun, separate Tug of War event that ran at the same time.

The events were run with the support and expertise of Lasswade Athletics Club volunteer officials and further supported by students from Edinburgh College.
