Midlothian Active Choices (MAC) and The Thistle Foundation have been working in partnership to develop volunteer led Shibashi classes (a light form of Tai Chi).

Midlothian Active Choices (MAC) and The Thistle Foundation have been working in partnership to develop volunteer led Shibashi classes (a light form of Tai Chi).   We have offered four taster sessions along with two pre booked blocks at Gorebridge Leisure Centre to gauge the potential of starting up classes permanently.  We have had great numbers attending the taster sessions along with positive reviews form the participants.

 

The Thistle Foundation have provided Shibashi training for volunteers to become qualified, Our plan in the next few months is to set up a regular class/s in the Midlothian area for MAC Card users. 

 

Shibashi, is a set of 18 individual Qigong exercise, it is suitable for all ages and is perfect prelude to learning Tai Chi, or as a warm-up for Tai Chi and or other types of exercise. Benefits include: balance, coordination, increasing energy, vitality rejuvenating the mind, body and soul and gain more agility and flexibility.

 

The MAC programme is an exercise referral scheme (via GP and or health professional) for adults who are sedentary or inactive and living with have long term Conditions. Midlothian Active Choices (MAC) | Midlothian health activities | Midlothian Council
