Primary Basketball Festival

Over 120 Midlothian primary pupils take part

Active Schools Midlothian was delighted to host the second Primary Basketball Festival for 2023-24!

We had 11 teams participating, from 10 primary schools all across Midlothian.  Pupil teams were made up of boys and girls from P6/7.

The festival enabled pupils to play a number of round robin matches against other school teams across two courts at Gorebridge Leisure Centre on Wednesday 6^th March.

The event was organised and run by Active Schools, with coaches from the local Basketball clubs helping referee:  special thanks to Peter Blair from Boroughmuir Blaze and our Active Schools Coordinator Katie McPherson who also coaches with City of Edinburgh Basketball Club.

As always we are keen to ensure pathways in sport for pupils interested in going further.  Please see the links below for details of the local Basketball clubs who have squad sessions and training for this age group:
