S1/2 play last Midlothian Rugby development boys game of 2015

Midlothian S1/2 Boys Rugby

On a day that saw most rugby across Scotland cancelled the Dalkeith RFC pitch looked ready for summer 7’s – almost.

As part of the Midlothian S1/2 League Lasswade School of Rugby hosted Lismore RFC, a combine Liberton and Gracemount high school squad. The hope had been to have all Midlothian School out but due to snow, flooding, work experience and transport that proved impossible.

In windy but dry conditions the hosts took a quick lead with well worked trys coming from the centres. Lismore fought back hard and as the game opened up there were scores available at either end of the pitch.

The hosts finally got the better of their less experienced visitors running out 34 -22 winners.

Rugby development officer, James Sloggie said: this was a scrappy but exciting game of rugby played in tough conditions. Both teams have come on massively over the season and there are some real positives in the growth of both squads.

Lasswade School of Rugby teacher, Jamie McCarthy added: this has been a great afternoon for our players and a tough game at a strong level.

Thank you to both team for making the short travels and to Dalkeith RFC for hosting the game.

This was the last Midlothian Rugby Development fixture of 2015 with the next round of the u16 league to be played on Wednesday 10th of February.
