Community Sports Hub Launch a Success

The fourth Community Sports Hub in Midlothian hosted a very successful launch event on Saturday 3rd September.

Six of the local sports clubs attended the launch event. These clubs all deliver their sports at the Danderhall Sports Centre and were happy to put on a display for the local community. The clubs present included Lasswade Gymnastics Club, Elite Taekwondo, Midlothian Gymnastics Club, Meadowbank Karate, East Lothian Gymnastic Academy and Sankukai Karate.

These clubs provided a 10 minutes demonstration of the different activities children and adults could become involved in within their clubs. These ranged from floor exercises to tumbles and summersaults from the gymnastics clubs. The martial arts clubs demonstrated welcoming moves and core practices through to sparring for both children and adults. Following the demonstrations, each sport and Danderhall Judo offered a taster of their activity, where the local community could come and try the different sports.

Everyone who attended showed great enthusiasm for their sport and the development of the hub. The sports were interested in attracting new members, developing more sessions and offering opportunities for people to participate. With a planned significant increase in housing in the local area, the sports hoped to attract new members to participate and grow the clubs.

The Danderhall Community Sports Hub has just started and is looking to grow. All clubs in the Dandehall area are encouraged to being involved, to take advantage of the benefits of being part of the sports hub and increase the opportunities for people to play sport.
